Currently there are 12 variations of colors for plants and one plain color (Mutation colors are discussed in Mutations).
Colors are set up on a color wheel as shown above.
There are three primary colors: Yellow, Red and Blue.
There are three possible secondary colors: Green, Orange and Purple.
Cross-pollinating the colors can yield six bright colors of both primary and secondary colors: Bright Yellow, Bright Red, Bright Blue, Bright Green, Bright Orange, and Bright Purple. Any plain plant cross pollinated with another plain or another color will always result in a plain plant color.

Bright colors can be bred by either crossing two plants of the same color or by crossing a color with a bright of the same color.
Mixing a primary or secondary color with a bright color will produce a secondary color.

Red + Yellow = Orange Blue + Red = Purple Blue + Yellow = Green
Red + Red = Bright Red Blue + Blue = Bright Blue Yellow+Yellow = Bright Yellow
Orange + Orange = Bright Orange Purple + Purple = Bright Purple Green + Green = Bright Green
Red + Bright Red = Bright Red Blue + Bright Blue = Bright Blue Yellow + Bright Yellow = Bright Yellow
Orange + Bright Orange = Bright Orange Purple + Bright Purple = Bright Purple Green + Bright Green = Bright Green
Red + Bright Yellow = Orange Blue + Bright Red = Purple Blue + Bright Yellow = Green

Mixing two secondary colors will produce the predominant primary color.
The system is based on the amount of color used to produce the secondary color.
Primary or bright colors crossed with a secondary color will result in a primary color too.
The only exception to this is: Red + Green = Red (red)+(blue+yellow)
Many combinations are possible, but this will give you an idea of how it works.

Green + Purple = Blue
(yellow+blue)+(blue+red)
Green + Orange = Yellow
(yellow+blue)+(red+yellow)
Orange + Purple = Red
(red+yellow)+(red+blue)
Red + Purple = Red
(red)+(red+blue)
Blue + Purple = Blue
(blue)+(red+blue)
Yellow + Green = Yellow
(yellow)+(yellow+blue)
Bright Red + Orange = Red
(bright red+red)+(red+yellow)
Bright Blue + Purple = Blue
(blue+bright blue)+(red+blue)
Bright Orange + Green = Yellow
(bright red+yellow)+ (blue+yellow)
